Movie on Jesuit founder to air on TV for Holy Week

An acclaimed movie about the life of Ignacio de Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, popularly known as the Jesuits, will air on TV in several countries during Holy Week.

The movie Ignacio de Loyola will be shown in the Asia-Pacific region, North America, Europe, the Middle East, and North and South Africa via GMA Pinoy TV on April 1, Easter Sunday.

The acclaimed 2016 biopic will also air on GMA 7, a free TV channel in the Philippines, in three parts on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday.

The film enjoyed a successful theatrical run and was successful at international film festivals.

In Mexico, it bagged the Audience Choice Award at the 12th Cine Con Valores Film Festival.

It was also awarded the Best Film prize at the Mirabile Dictu International Catholic Film Festival held at the Vatican in 2017.

Ignacio de Loyola made history in 2016 when it became the first Filipino film to premiere at the Vatican.

The movie was produced by the Jesuit Communications Foundation Philippines and starred Spanish actor Andreas Munoz.
