Commentary on the Gospel of

Fr. John O'Byrne, cmf

Whatever our views on how our universe came into being, whether as a result of a Big Bang or as the creation of a First Cause/Supreme Intelligence, I personally find the account in Genesis more credible and authentic. One can easily envisage the Supreme Artificer gazing at "the formless void" and dreaming up incredibly beautifully plans for the limitless spaces at his disposal. First, light to dispel the all-pervading darkness, then dividing the waters, letting the dry land appear, then an endless variety of vegetation for the land to produce. Dividing light from darkness and providing great lights for both day and night. At which point, standing back and casting a critical eye on the work thus far accomplished and deciding "that it was good". The Supreme Architect gradually giving concrete form to his dream.
