Commentary on the Gospel of

Fr. John O'Byrne, cmf

Three days and nothing to eat! How much time do we spend listening to jesus and at what cost? Do we give him 'prime time'? And when we do give him some time its too often spent asking/telling him what we want him to do for us. Jesus was not only aware of the people's needs but was concerned for their welfare. When the few who had brought some provisions with them were willing to hand them over, then Jesus ensured that all were amply provided for. Had they not been so generous in giving the little they had, then Jesus would have been deprived of the means of providing for all. If only we would make available to Jesus our gifts and talents - however poor and limited they may be - with equal generosity he could bring about astonishing results. Are we prepared to let him?
