Commentary on the Gospel of

Fr. Christopher Newman, cmf

The Word of God we listen to each time in the liturgy and in our lectio divina does what it is intended to do, without our even realising it.  By listening and reading it, the Word penetrates into our mind and body.  As we hear in today’s reading from Isaiah ‘ the word that goes from my mouth does not return to me empty.’  It fulfils its purpose in us.  Just as we pray in the Our Father, ‘Thy will be done, on earth as in heaven.’  We can pray without words by just being aware that we are in God’s presence wherever we may find ourselves throughout the day.
