Commentary on the Gospel of
Today’s readings challenge us to measure up to God who is compassion and
forgiveness. Jesus tells us that how we treat others will be reflected in
how we ourselves are treated by God. How do you react to others who make
choices that differ from yours? E.g. your Children? your Parents? your
neighbours? Etc. Would others describe your behaviour as one of
understanding and compassion …or would the words they use to describe you,
reveal a disparity between what Jesus points to in today’s Gospel and the
life you live? What might need to change in your life in order for you to
be more compassionate, understanding and forgiving?
