Commentary on the Gospel of

Michael Chima, cmf

In the Gospel, we see Jesus saddened by unbelief and wickedness, neglect of him and his doctrine. Those who slighted and undervalued him, did so because the admired and overvalued themselves. Jesus reproved their lack of love for God. Many, who make a great profession of religion, show that they are lacking of God by their neglect and contempt of His commandments. Words only have value when we they accompany life. We can speak much as Christians, say beautiful things, but it is only when we accompany our words with works of charity, giving a helping hand to someone in need that they come to life. It is only when we display pure love and compassion, that we are worthy of being called Christians. It is our love for God, that living, active love in our heart, which is our life.
