Commentary on the Gospel of
Many people talk and write about alienation, the modern illness. Does the Gospel, so ancient, have anything to say to this modern condition? I think yes. Lepers were the alienated people in the Lord’s time: they had to live outside society and shout “Unclean!” when they saw anyone coming near. We meet one in today’s Gospel passage. “Moved with pity, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him,” healing him. When you feel all alone in the world and meaningless, feel his hand on your forehead!
