Commentary on the Gospel of

Fr. Jim Kennedy, cmf

It is much easier to say “I love you” than to do. Words are not enough to express the depth of what real love conveys. Love is an extension of self, giving self to the other, wishing good for the other, even when it costs us.

In his love for us God gave us his only Son to die on the Cross to save us. Now he remains patient with us while we struggle between good and evil. We have been given every means possible to believe and to be saved. God asks us for the total gift of our own lives. We are to love God as he loves us. We are barely halfway through Lent and we are already invited to go through it with the Risen Christ. Even in our journey of repentance and conversion we are already shown that we will be given far more than we could ever give. All we need to do is love. Do our everyday actions witness to our choice to love God?
