Commentary on the Gospel of
To achieve a truly “less burdened heart”, a free soul and authentic spirit, the prophet Isaiah advises us: Wash yourselves clean! Put away your misdeeds from before my eyes. For Jesus, it is more than putting away misdeeds. It is keeping us free from whatever that hinders us to grow, to commit, and to give our life for justice and for authentic humanity. This means to be free from any relationship we may have with persons, things or emotions that hinder us to be free. This is like a sword. This is provoking to the “world”.
