Just like those teachers and sages of his time, Jesus taught in parables. Jesus was seldom ‘dogmatic’ in his preaching. He was more concerned of meaningful learning from stories close to human existence rather than counting on legalistic nuances of religious practices of his time.
Meaningful learning from stories needs a good listening heart, an open mind and a willing spirit. A listening heart is the one that listens and ponders. An open mind is the one that is willing to discern new truths. A willing spirit is the one that is joyful to live the new truth she or he has found.
