None of us will invite the poor, the lame and the blind, and not our friends, families or our rich acquaintances when we host a party. But this is what Jesus asks of us, and we easily find reasons to justify what we find difficult if not impossible to put into practice—that Jesus’ words should not be understood literally. But what could Jesus mean when he said those words to his followers? Who are the poor, the physically challenged, the lame and the blind in our world today?
