Commentary on the Gospel of

Fr Andrzej Kobylski cmf

The law order doesn’t seem to work for people who are weak: poor, old, very young. However the world is full of lawyer offices; nobody would have been protected if they hadn’t had money or connections. The widow from the Gospel also wouldn’t be protected if she wasn’t so stubborn. Many people are convinced that they can find justice through the force of their arguments, by their power and cleverness. And we would come to a conclusion that there is no justice in this world but the real justice does not come from the people’s rules.

It does come from God. God justifies man but He does not make excuses. Moreover, since He is merciful, no one needs money or connections. All we need is faith. Those people, the chosen, crying to him day and night who are they? Aren’t they those who believed in the name of the Son of Man? They are.

So, faith is the condition. Having faith is not always convenient – in the human way of thinking – because those, who saved their faith sometimes, lost their possession, position in society and even their life. But they achieved much more; they were washed in the Blood of the Lamb of God. God’s forgiveness made them clean. This is real justice which we can receive. But in the face of our own sins there is another way. We need to stay praying to be given God’s grace of conversion; a gift from God that makes us able to refuse our sins.
