Commentary on the Gospel of
"I HAVE SET BEFORE YOU LIFE AND DEATH, THE BLESSING AND THE CURSE"
The readings of today present a classic topic in all cultures, how choose the right way. Sometimes we can think that happiness is in the comfort, of doing all the things that we want. But we must make an effort to be happy because the easiest is not always the best.
The Gospel of today has strong resonances for Claretians. "What profit is there for one to gain the whole world yet lose or forfeit himself?" we can read in the version of Luke. Remember similar words in Mathew’s Gospel that had a big impact on the life of Saint Anthony Mary Claret. This passage of the Gospel was the reason for his conversion, to a new life, only for God.
We pray to God, our Lord, that imitating the example of Claret, we can live only for God as well.
