Gospel Luke 24 35-48
The disciples of Emmaus are telling their experience of meeting the Risen One and how they had recognized him in breaking bread; they are narrating it to the rest of the group, of the community, and at that same moment Jesus appears again, greeting them and offering them PEACE. The doubts and fears of before disappear, and He "opened their minds" and they begin to understand the Scriptures and how much they affirmed about Him. And so, little by little, the Spirit of the Risen Jesus goes about illuminating the minds and hearts of their friends and converting them - like Peter - into bold witnesses of the Good News.
- And in Jesus, history acquires all its fullness, it is enlightened; a new beginning of human history is given; the same death is broken and overcome. This is the message, repeated tirelessly by the witnesses. Witnesses who are bearers of the same PEACE as the Risen One - as a gift and their gift - offers them, and so, now, they live with the same keys that the Master and Lord have lived.
- Today, each of us, are called to this same experience. The Scriptures, the Eucharist, the gathered brothers, the Community, are the means to help us in this task. And all with the aim of "open our understanding" that allows (me) a personal and transforming encounter. Only from there can we be SENT.
"Lord Jesus, thank you for your presence among us in the Word, in the broken bread, in the brothers and sisters ...".
