From where did Jesus get his cue to speak and teach with such astounding authority? Evidently from those rock-solid men of faith, like Abraham, for instance.
Jesus must have marvelled at Abraham’s ability to defy all logic and common sense, and entrust himself totally in God’s hand’s and faithfulness to his word. So, Abraham leaned on the rock of God’s faithfulness. Jesus in turn, learnt from Abraham, and learned to similarly lean on the solidity of God’s all-encompassing faithfulness.
It was on these sure foundations that the authority of Jesus was built!
