Commentary on the Gospel of

Fr. Johnson Joseph Thurackal CMF

In honouring the queenship of Mary, we recall the destiny of each human person. God has predestined us to share image of his Son (Rom 8:28). Mary was the first one to share this image in its fulness. Mary, therefore, prophetically exclaimed: “all generations will call me blessed.”

“Christ was raised in glory to the right hand of the Father, while Mary herself would be raised to that same glory in the Assumption, enjoying beforehand, by a unique privilege, the destiny reserved for all the just at the resurrection of the dead” (John Paul II). Mary’s unique privilege throws clear light on our destiny. We also need to share her obedient listening to the Word and prompt bringing forth of Jesus to the world.

How open am I to the need of Jesus to be reborn within so that his message can continue to be heard?
