Commentary on the Gospel of

Fr. Luis Manuel Suárez CMF

“The bread of life” is received, in a special way, in the Eucharist. Participating in the table of Jesus should transform us: “the one who feeds on me will have life because of me”. Meeting every Sunday or every day with our neighbor, with the one at the corner store, with the newly arrived immigrant… and beginning to live as brothers and sisters in Christ. Listening to the readings about events and stories from the past and feeling them as the living Word that illuminates the here and now. To repeat the gestures and words of Jesus at the last supper and to know that, although you are not worthy, you have been invited to the banquet and He gives His live again for you. To end the celebration and feel sent to recreate his self-giving in your life, “in memory of Him”…

Is this how you live the Eucharist? Jesús is “the bread of life”, received in a special way at the Eucharist. That’s because many believers miss that sacrament in these days of lockdown, although they can follow it by the Media. Maybe is a good chance to give the Eucharist more value in our life, for when we can celebrate it again in its full sense, with our brothers and sisters, together again.

May you, Lord, by means of the bread of your Word and of your Eucharist, inhabit in me, and I in you. Amen.
