26th Sunday in Ordinary Time  -  "He who is not against us is for us"

The Spirit cannot be "nobody's property", neither a group nor an individual person, because God acts freely, as he wills, when he wills and where he wills, even in the margin of chosen groups. Because God acts freely; how he wants, when he wants and where he wants, even apart from the chosen groups. "He who is not with us, is for us". For Jesus, ours are all those who are not expressly against us. This means that we should rejoice when we work in places for the Kingdom of God which is justice, peace, truth, life, holiness, love... and that we can add all our efforts to those who work with us in good will, even if they do not share our faith.

We have the tendency to monopolise the good, the truth and the Spirit, and we are not the only ones; we are not the owners of the Spirit. Because the Kingdom of God does not grow only among Christians, but among all those who work for the growth of the Kingdom of God.

The authentic Christian is therefore generous, open to dialogue, broad-minded and a tireless seeker of God's truth. Let us hone our grateful sensitivity to every spark of goodness we can find in others, and the Church (as Pope Benedict XVI said) does not grow by proselytising, it grows by attraction, that is to say, it grows by the witness given to others with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Thank you Lord for every person of good will who lives in the world, for you are also in them.

(Psalm 18) The commands of the Lord are right and gladden the heart.

"HAPPY SUNDAY TO ALL".
