Gospel Reflection – January 22, 2026

January 22, 2026

The attraction of Jesus. People come to Him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, Tyre, Sidon… multitudes who seek Him, follow Him, and are thirsty for Jesus. They crowd around to touch Him, to feel Him, to be healed.

Everyone feels drawn by His irresistible strength that welcomes the poor, cures ailments and diseases, and frees those tormented by evil spirits. “Power came out from Him, a strength.” That strength is the Spirit.

People flocked to Jesus not because He taught some sublime, fancy doctrine, but because they “heard of the great things He was doing.” What concerned Jesus was alleviating, liberating, healing, and consoling. Jesus does not give up on being close to the crowd and to each individual.

People are not attracted by speeches, dogmas, or words upon words. They want to see works, facts, testimonies, gestures. They want to see if we truly worry about those having a hard time, those hoping to escape so many hardships and pains, just like Jesus did. How do we show in our daily lives that we follow Jesus? Does our way of living the faith attract others?
