Dear friends,

Have you ever had a desire that took a long time to come true?

That’s something like the story of Israel. Through their lived experiences, they came to know the God who freed them from slavery in Egypt. That same God is the one who gave them life. And in return, He established a Covenant with His people—to make them a seed of His salvation for all humanity.

But the story wasn’t so simple. While God always remained faithful to His Covenant, the people often strayed down other paths. And yet, God never withdrew His Word. The prophet Isaiah foresaw that this Covenant would be fulfilled through a “servant”—chosen and beloved by God—who, in a mysterious way, would carry out the promises through his very weakness.

And then Jesus came. Many couldn’t see anything in Him that seemed different from the other prophets who had come before. But some did recognize in Him the one who fulfilled the prophet’s words:

“Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight. I have put my Spirit upon him; he will bring justice to the nations. He will not cry out or shout or raise his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; in his name the nations will put their hope.”

That is Jesus: the beauty of a life freely given, in weakness—renewing God’s Covenant with His people and planting the definitive seed of the new world the Father has prepared for all nations.

And this Jesus counts on you to carry that story forward. Through Him, with Him, and in Him… walking together as a synodal Church, for the life of the world. What will your answer be?

Spirit of God,
count me in
to follow Jesus
on the path to the Father’s Kingdom.
