Commentary on the Gospel of
In the time of Jesus, people were so burdened by heavy economic, socio-political cultural and religious loads. The exigencies of these structures were enormous and brought great aguish and desperation. Jesus fought to free the people from these burdens. His words and his actions were meant to free them from burdens of all sorts. He invited others to do the same. He invited others to take up his fight and to learn from his heart.
We too are invited to this fight. But with humility and meekness, values that the enemy surely don’t have and abhors.
How to we achieve a truly “less burdened heart”, a free soul and authentic spirit? This has been my constant search. Today, Jesus said, through humility and meekness.
