Ex 20: 1-17; Mt 13: 18-23
What is the rich soil into which I am invited to have the seed of the Word of God sown? It is one who has an open, malleable heart, who acknowledges God as the ultimate reality. Any penultimate reality, which the commandments in the First reading pertain to, is idolatry, and the soil of death.
The open heart is ever-grateful to the God who calls, to the God who delivers. That heart is always open to further evidence of God’s everlasting mercy.
