Commentary on the Gospel of

Stan Ekwujuru, cmf

The prayer of the leper and the response of Jesus in the gospel reading of today invite us to deep reflections. He kneels and begs him and in turn he is moved with pity. He touches him and then heals him. Jesus does not consider the ritual implications of his action, but first restores to the leper his dignity as a human person and then heals him.

Around us are many who are regarded as social and cultural outcastes. What is our reaction before this challenge? Why and how do we give alms to the needy?
