Do you suffer from “Jonah Complex?” This phenomenon refers to the fear of one’s own success, which prevents one from fulfilling one’s own potential destiny. It refers to the avoidance of exercising one’s talents.

The phrase “Jonah Complex” was originally coined by Frank Manuel and was made famous by Abraham Maslow; and was taken from the story of the prophet Jonah whose destiny was to be the prophet of Yahweh, but who chose to flee in the opposite direction, refusing to exercise his ministry and destiny. (Well, he would, eventually fulfil; but that U-turn came after much flight, frowning, and drowning.)

How pitiful it is that many people pass through life and die never having lived up to the full  potential and destiny that was theirs for the taking—of becoming and behaving as the true sons and daughters of a loving God! Instead, they limit themselves to the safe margins of certain prescriptions and proscriptions, and never venture beyond the law into the vast horizons of love, like the Good Samaritan did and became like God!

Do not live for small dreams. Dream big as God dreams, and become like God, your true destin
